Together, we can begin to make a difference. The old adage that "If you take your kids hunting, you won't be hunting for your kids" is more true today than ever before. Since a large portion of our youth live in single parent homes, so many times things like hunting is left in the hands of the mother. I see this predicament endlessly in hunter education classes. The mother brings her children to the class and then becomes interested herself. The future of hunting is now, more than ever, in the hands of mothers, aunts, sisters and grandmothers. But what if they don't know about hunting? Well, this column will be geared to help those who think they might be interested in learning about bowhunting. Some of you may have dabbled in it years ago and would like to take it up again. Others already enjoy the sport and may just want to improve your skills. What ever your position I know you will enjoy joining me here and hopefully together, we can begin to make a difference. |
